Mecha Defense
About
This print is part of my ongoing “Things We Like” series. It’s an exploration of lines and geometric illustrations featuring some of my favorite things. And the things my friends and family love too!
Inspiration
Growing up here in the US in the 80s and 90s, it was a rare thing to catch any mecha movies or live action tokusatsu superhero shows from Japan. But I had the library. There I was able to find tons of comics and manga to fill my head with. Random facts: Classic mecha movies often crossed over with kaiju films, which was/is as awesome as it sounds. Mecha culture also spawned things like Power Rangers, Voltron, Transformers, Gundam, and even Iron Man.
